Christine Besson
Christine Besson
Abstract painter. Matter, light, and layered memory.
Christine Besson is an abstract painter based in Champigny-sur-Marne, trained in graphic arts at Corvisart and subsequently at the Arts Décoratifs (life drawing, evening courses). A member of the Académie Lyonnaise de Peinture and published by Filigranes Éditions.
She works matter — papers, oil, acrylic, wax — in an abstraction nourished by sustained observation of light. Her canvases compose slowly, after a period of maturation: memories of traversed landscapes rising to the surface through layering and controlled accident.
Practice
Besson's process is one of sedimentation. Nothing is forced to the surface — it is waited for. The material itself — wax resisting, paper absorbing, pigment drifting — participates in the decision. What emerges is not a landscape remembered but a landscape distilled: the emotional residue of having been somewhere, translated into colour, texture, and light.
