Jean-Pierre Lebureau
Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Art metalwork and living heritage.
Jean-Pierre Lebureau is a Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) and an art metalworker based in Brières-les-Scellés, in the Essonne.
Working zinc, copper and sheet metal by repoussé and chasing, he practises traditional techniques at the highest level of mastery. His workshop, distinguished as an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant, has worked on the Pont au Double linking the forecourt of Notre-Dame to the quai de Montebello (2002), the ridge crest of the clock tower at the Gare de Lyon (2015), and the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte (2013–2022). AAF/VMF Prize in 2016.
Between restoration and creation, his ridge ornaments and sculpted embellishments open a dialogue between the memory of the gesture and contemporary ornament.
His work is not reproduction — it is transmission: the same hands, the same tools, the same materials, but always in the service of a living form.
