Rémi Segalas

Figurative drawing and painting. Bodily memory, gesture and human narrative.

Born in Paris, Rémi Segalas grew up between the Sologne and the Béarn. Passionate about drawing from an early age, in 2009 he entered the ETIC School of Graphic Arts in Blois, where he trained in academic drawing, painting and illustration.

He then continued at the Beaux-Arts de Toulouse for two years, before turning to textile design. Back in Paris, he collaborated with young fashion designers, enriching his artistic world through contact with different disciplines.

Today Rémi Segalas devotes himself fully to his painting practice, developing a personal body of work nourished by his path, his influences and his artistic sensibility.

Associated with the Figurative Destructuralism movement, his practice explores the deep links between the human and the animal. Through the study of anatomy and movement, it seeks to reveal a form of symbiosis in which the body becomes the receptacle of postures, rites and ancestral transmissions.

Nourished by the daily observation of the horses at his riding club in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, his work questions the memory of the gesture and the correspondences between the different forms of the living.

His work was distinguished at the Salon des Artistes Français 2022 and received the Special Prize of the Salon du Dessin et de la Peinture à l'Eau 2024.
